What to do if the club wishes to relinquish the Tähtiseura label?

Modified on Tue, 17 Mar at 10:59 AM

This article explains how a club should proceed if it wishes to give up the Star Label it has received.

A tähtiseura may give up or lose its Star Label in the following situations:

  • The club itself announces that it will give up the label (e.g. no longer able to operate according to the Star Club quality criteria, or for another reason)
  • The club’s operations come to an end
  • The club resigns from membership in its national sport federation
  • As a result of a re-audit, the club loses the label (e.g. the quality factors are not met and the club does not implement the agreed corrective measures within the agreed timeframe)
  • The club’s re-audit is more than one year overdue.

If a club wishes to give up its Star Label, both the club development officer of the national sport federation and the Finnish Olympic Committee must be informed. The Olympic Committee will remove the club’s development work from the Tähtiseura online service and delete the club’s information from the Star Club register. The club must also remove the Star Club logo from its communications, including its website.

The contact details of the club development officers can be found on the websites of each national sport federation.
Contact person at the Olympic Committee: suvi.voutilainen@olympiakomitea.fi

The club is always welcome to return and pursue the label again whenever circumstances allow!
