This article explains how a member can resign from a club in Suomisport.

Suomisport’s membership management operates in accordance with the Associations Act. Membership does not end automatically when the membership season ends.

When member wants to resign, the member must notify the club of their resignation. So first contact your club and request to resign!

In Suomisport, only a club user can remove a member from the association’s membership list. A member cannot remove themselves from a member class.

According to the Associations Act:
A member may resign from an association at any time by notifying the association’s board or its chair in writing. A member may also resign by notifying the association at a meeting so that it is entered in the minutes. The bylaws may stipulate that the resignation takes effect only after a specified period following the notice of resignation.

An association may expel a member on the grounds specified in the bylaws and on the general grounds of the Associations Act if the member has failed to fulfill the obligations to which they committed by joining the association, or has, through their conduct in or outside the association, significantly harmed the association; or no longer meets the conditions for membership specified by law or in the association’s bylaws.
